On March 23rd, 2007, jd8 Records helped produce and organize IndieGo: A Showcase of Asian American Singer Songwriters. The house was packed and everyone loved the vibe and the music. We want to thank all of the artists who participated in IndieGo:

Ginnicide
Scott Tang
Franki Love
Kiyoshi Graves
Kevin So

Thanks also to ImaginAsian, who was our media sponsor for the event and covered IndieGo through ImaginAsian Radio and in the March 2007 issue of their e-zine, iaLink.

NaRhee Ahn, writer and director of the feature film Purity was our emcee for the night and …

… Byron Dote p/k/a +he op+imist (who is also a part of Plan 9 Entertainment and Natural Cause) spun tunes in between sets and did some amazing scratch work during one of Kiyoshi's songs.

First up was Virginia Kim p/k/a Ginnicide, backed by her unique quintet of violin, cello, oboe, double bass and keys.

Ginnicide sings her heart out …

… and does a hauntingly beautiful song with her cellist.

Scott Tang and his band take the stage next.  For the first time ever, they played some brand new songs from Scott's upcoming second album which is set to be done in mid-2007.  Stay tuned for more on that!  They also played some of the tunes from Scott's first album, Late Night Drives.

Scott chats up the crowd in between songs.  He's a funny guy.

Kiyoshi Graves also sat in on guitar for Scott's band.  (That's him there in the shadows …)

Franki Love and her sexy hair anchored the middle of the night's performances.

Franki's percussionist also plays in India.Arie's band.

Franki wraps up her set and has some fun with the crowd.

NaRhee introducing Kiyoshi Graves and his band … "Do you wanna ROCK?!  HOLLA!"  Ha ha ha … good times …

Kiyoshi gave an amazing amount of energy in his performance and did some brand new songs set to appear on his yet-to-be recorded second album.  The crowd loved it and started dancing and cheering!

Allison Arakawa joined Kiyoshi on stage for the song "Identify" from Kiyoshi's debut full-length album Chase.  Keep an eye out for the music video for the song "Chase" (yes, from the album Chase) which is set to be released in mid-2007.

Kiyoshi tears it up on the guitar.

A tired but happy Kiyoshi wraps up his set.

Kevin So closed out the night with his vibrant mix of R&B, hip hop, rock and pop.  Photos of Kevin courtesy of Michelle Ko.

Yeah, that's Kiyoshi again … this time playing with Kevin's band.  He was pretty busy that night.  And if you look closely, that's +he op+imis+ sitting up there in the corner DJ booth.  Kevin's performance was tight!  He got the whole crowd to start singing … "It's the new sensation.  It's that sexy asian!"

Kevin thanks the crowd and says good night.

The night after IndieGo, we all went to the Chop Suey Café/Far Bar in Little Tokyo LA.  Some Komuzikamembers did some short performances and Kevin and Kiyoshi did an impromptu jam session.  It was cool, low-key hang time.

Adios from the whole crew!
