Ken Oak
Limited Copies of Half Step Down, Ken's Debut Full-Length Album, Still Available
Ken Oak is a singer-songwriter who blends elements of pop, rock, acoustic and classical into his own unique sound and style. His songs feature his mellow baritone voice, catchy guitar riffs, poetic lyrics and soulful cello lines.
jd8 Records co-produced and released Half Step Down, Ken Oak's debut full-length album, in February of 2005. The album has 14 original songs by Ken and a range of musical styles that is rarely heard on today's commercially-released albums. Half Step Down was met with widespread praise and acclaim.
"Almost every song could conceivably be a single on mainstream radio," raves Chopblock.com (formerly Yolk Magazine), "a refreshing contrast from countless other albums fattened up with filler," and Asia Pacific Arts writes, "Each song is stylistically different in the way that it's arranged and mixed, and even Ken's voice changes between songs ... The variety is refreshing."
Tracks from Half Step Down have been featured on the MTV reality show Surf Girls, the WB's High School Reunion, the NBC Sports special The Road to Ironman and the feature-length film Purity.
Half Step Down includes three pop songs (Maybe, Wonder and End Credits) and two modern rock tracks (These Things and Analog Girl). There are three straight-ahead rock songs (Inside Me, Catching Up and Leah) and some songs with a laid-back, adult contemporary feel (Constellation, This Time). In case that's not enough for you, there's also a bossa nova track (Half Step Down), a pop-jazz song (Anyway), a country ballad (Silhouette), and a neo-classical piece (Soma) on the album.
You can get CD copies of Half Step Down exclusively on CDBaby and Amazon and digital tracks from the album on eMusic, Rhapsody, AOL MusicNow, Sony Connect and Buy.com.
